How does a tapered roller bearing work?
In a tapered roller bearing the inner ring (cone), the outer ring (cup) and the rollers are all conical, and their lines meet at a common point on the bearing axis. This geometry lets the bearing carry heavy radial loads and high axial (thrust) loads in one direction at the same time, with true rolling motion and low friction.
Tapered roller bearings are normally mounted in pairs, face-to-face or back-to-back, so that the shaft is located in both axial directions and the clearance or preload can be set during assembly. The cone assembly and the cup are separable, which makes mounting and inspection easier. Metric and inch series, as well as single-row, double-row and four-row designs, cover different loads and shaft sizes.
CPN tapered roller bearings are made to German standards with ISO-controlled factory quality control. Send us the cone and cup numbers or the main dimensions and we will quote a matching bearing.
